Located
in Bardez taluka, to the South of Vagator Beach and North of the Baga -
Calangute - Candolim stretch, the Anjuna beach is just 18 kms from
Panjim. Adjacent to Chapora fort, the beach was discovered in 1950's and
60's by an amateur group of travelers who then began to meet here in the
dry season to party. A prepaid auto plying from Mapusa to the beach can
be a good option to reach here.
With a wide array of activities to offer, the beach keeps bubbling with
action round the year. Be it a beach party under the star lit sky,
shopping at the Wednesday Flea Market or having your favorite food at
the beachfront restaurants; Anjuna takes care of all in the most
entertaining way.
One can visit St. Anthony's Church too which is in close proximity. A
popular holiday destination of the people in sixties, the beach is
equally popular with the flower generation of today. And the credit for
this goes to the flea market that has carved a permanent niche for
itself in the Goan economy.
