Khajjiar

While it is possible to go by road (22 km), this beautiful glade is just a pleasant day's walk from Dalhousie. A picturesque spot with an emerald saucer shaped meadow amidst a dense Deodar forest, which even has a lake with a floating island at its center, has been called "India's Switzerland". A temple with a golden spire by the wayside and a golf couse makes khajjiar for a perfect holiday setting in the mountains. At the old temple (12th century) snake god Khajji Nag is worshiped in a human form. Five life size wooden statues signify presence of Pandava princes from the epic age of Mahabharata.
