Himachal Tourist AttractionsThe western Himalayas cover all of Himachal Pradesh,
their elevation ranging from 350 m to over 6000 m. Swift flowing rivers
and glaciers form an intricate network across the state, creating some
of the most attractive landforms in India. Within the mountainous state are striking differences in topography and climate, throwing up a variety of landscapes and experiences for travelers to Himachal. The Dhauladhar circuit on the western end, with the Dhauladhar range overlooking the charming Kangra Valley has a mix of gentle meadows, tea plantations, snowy peaks, forested slopes and steep valleys dotted by a host of religious sites like Jwalamukhi, Chintpurni and Dharamshala. Adjoining the Dhauladhar circuit is the area drained by the Beas River and known for idyllic locations like Kullu, Manali, and the daunting road to the Zanskar range. The Tribal circuit covers a spectrum of landscapes that graduate from the flower-bedecked meadows and orchards of Kinnaur, to the snow capped peaks of Kalpa, to the moonscape environs of the Lahaul-Spiti valley. The Sutlej river basin, with oft-visited destinations like Shimla, Kasauli, Chail, Renuka, Naldehra, Tattapani and Paonta Sahib passes through snow covered peaks, apple orchards and the Siwalik foothills. This is an all-season destination, frequented by weekenders from Delhi and Chandigarh.
