Day
1 Arrive MumbaiArrive Mumbai where you are met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Day 2 Deccan Odyssey Enjoy a morning cruise to Elephanta caves. In the afternoon enjoy a sightseeing of Mumbai before boarding the Deccan Odyssey from the famous Bombay VT Station (now called Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus or Mumbai CST). Enjoy a welcome dinner on board. Day 3 Jaigadh - Ganapatipule - Ratnagiri Arrive at Bhoke Railway Station in the morning. Enjoy a backwater cruise to the Jaigadh Fort. Drive along the seaside to Ganapatipule for lunch. In the afternoon visit the charming town of Ratnagiri including the Ratnadurg Fort and Lokmanya Tilak Smarak. Board the train again at Ratnagiri Station. Overnight on board train Day 4 Sindhudurg - Tarkarli - Sawantwadi Morning arrive at Sindhudurg Nagari Railway Station. Visit the Sindhudurg Sea Fort and Tarkarli beach resort where lunch is arranged. In the afternoon cruise through the Tarkarli creek up to Kalse Jetty followed by a visit to Sawantwadi town to see lacquer handicrafts, paintings and furniture at the "Shilpagrama". Board the train at Sawantwadi for overnight. Day 5 Goa Arrive at Karmali, Goa, in the morning. Visit Basilica De Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Old Goa. Enjoy a walk through Fontanhas, the Latin quarters of Panjim. Lunch is arranged at Fort Aguada Beach Resort. Afternoon free to explore Goa till the evening departure from Madgaon. Overnight is on board train. Day 6 Pune The day we arrive Pune, the erstwhile capital of the Marathas. Visit the old central market, Kelkar Museum, David Sassoon Synagogue and the Osho International Commune. Lunch is arranged at Hotel Le Meridian. You also visit the Aga Khan Palace, where Mahatma Gandhi was incarcerated during India's freedom struggle. Enjoy a son et lumiere show at Shaniwarwada. Late in the evening board the train from Pune Station. Overnight on board train. Day 7 Aurangabad Arrive Aurangabad in the morning. Visit the historical fort of Daulatabad and the Ellora caves - a World Heritage Site with 34 cave temples dedicated to three different religions - Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism. After lunch and a cultural program visit Shivaji Museum, displaying weapons and antiques from the great Maratha Empire, Aurangabad Caves No. 7 & 8 and Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a replica of the Taj Mahal. Day 8 Ajanta & Nashik The Deccan Odyssey comes into Jalgaon this morning for a visit to the renowned Buddhist caves of Ajanta - another World Heritage Site, home to some of the finest paintings and sculptures of the second century AD. At noon board the train at Bhusawal and proceed to Nashik with lunch on board. Wine and dine at the Sula vineyard in Nashik before boarding the train for the return journey to Mumbai. Day 9 Mumbai Upon arrival at Mumbai in the morning you will be transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Day 10 Mumbai - Onward flight Day is at leisure, later transfer to the International airport for your onward flight.
