East India Tour

Day 1 Arrive Kolkata (Calcutta)
Arrive Kolkata early in the morning and transfer to your hotel (room booked for immediate occupancy). After a relaxed morning we visit the city sights in the afternoon including the Victoria Memorial, St Paul's Cathedral and the Indian Museum, with one of the best collections of Indian art.

Day 2 Kolkata
Early morning we visit the flower market on the riverbanks in Howrah with the remainder of the day at leisure. This evening we are invited to dine with a local family at their residence.

Day 3 Kolkata - Darjeeling
A short flight in the morning takes us to Bagdogra. We drive to Darjeeling through picturesque mountains winding roads passing through tea gardens. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.

Darjeeling was the favorite hill station of the British, Darjeeling is surrounded by tea gardens and has magnificent views of the snowy peaks of Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain peak in the world. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 4 Darjeeling
Early in the morning we drive up to Tiger Hill (9000 ft) to see the spectacular sunrise over Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga, visiting the Ghoom Monastery on our return. We later visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and a local tea garden.

Day 5 Darjeeling
The day is at leisure with the option of a ride on the "toy" train to Ghoom or Kurseong.

Day 6 Darjeeling - Pelling
A scenic drive to the remote hamlet of Pelling where we stay the night at Norbugang Resort, offering comfortable but simple accommodation. In the afternoon we visit the Pemayangtse Monastery.

Day 7 Pelling - Gangtok
We drive to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Upon arrival check into your Hotel for overnight.

Day 8 Gangtok
This morning we visit the Rumtek Monastery, noted for its carved and painted woodwork. We later visit the Enchey Monastery and the Namgyalak Institute of Tibetology.

Day 9 Gangtok - Kalimpong
A pleasant drive to Kalimpong brings us to the delightful Himalayan Hotel. The day is free to visit the orchid nurseries, churches and monasteries.

Day 10 Kolkata
Transfer to Bagdogra airport for a short flight to Kolkata. Arrive Kolkata and transfer to your hotel.

Day 11 Kolkata - Onward Flight
Day is at leisure. Afternoon transfer to the airport to board your onward flight.
