Hassan

Deriving its name form Hasanamba, the presiding deity of the region, the district headquarters of Hassan is a quiet and peaceful town that serves as a convenient base to visit Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebid. With the rivers Cauvery, Hemavati and Yagachi flowing through it, the district is surrounded by six other districts. The climate of the place is salutarily affected by its proximity to the Western Ghats.

Well-connected by road and rail to Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore; Hassan is famous for coconut, cardamom, coffee and rice. Also home to the Master Control Facilities, Hassan houses an operating station of the Indian Space Research Organization as well.

Some of the famous places of tourist interest at Hassan include District Museum displaying marvelous sculptures, paintings and weapons etc. along with the Maharaja Park.
