Climate in KeralaInformation on Climate & Weather of Kerala.
Largely coastal, Kerala enjoys a tropical climate with the cool sea breezes mellowing temperatures though increasing humidity considerably. It is warm throughout the year with a very negligible drop in December and January to signify a winter season. The average temperature on the plains averages a bearable 30 degrees centigrade throughout the year. The inland plains are warmer than the coast, with temperatures touching 37 centigrade degrees in summer. Kerala is the first to face the onslaught of the south west monsoon winds in the last week of May, and downpours continue till September/October. As the south west winds recede, the northeast monsoons gain ground, and bring rain to Kanjirapalli – Peerumedu range and Kuttiyadi area. In the hills of Idukki and Wayanad, where peaks touch 2000 ft and more, extremely pleasant weather prevails throughout the year. The average temperatures here range between 5 and 20 degrees centigrade.
