Onam
One of the most popular festivals of Kerala, Onam is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, the legendary ruler of Kerala known for the justice and goodness during his rule. Onam is celebrated during the Malayali month of Chingam (Aug - Sep) and the festivities last for ten days showcasing the best of Kerala’s culture and tradition. Intricately decorated Pookalam, Ambrosial Onasadya, the thrilling Snake Boat Races and the striking Kaikottikali dance are some of the most activities engaged in during Onam.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race
One of the biggest annual snake boat races in the world, Nehru Trophy Boat Race is held on the second Saturday of August at Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha. A popular sport festival of Kerala, this race observes huge participation of the youth and inculcates the true sportsman spirit.

Vishu
The first day of the New Year is celebrated by the name of Vishu in Kerala and adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu. The natives of the region celebrate the advent of the New Year with great fanfare. It is a ritual to visit the temples to seek the blessings of God for a prosperous year ahead.
