Marari Beach

Unblemished and almost unexplored, Marari Beach is a short 60 km distance from Kochi and Alappuzha.

The undisturbed lifestyle of the local fishermen lends a unique charm to the Marari beach. Surprisingly, advances in lifestyle in neighbouring urban areas have not touched the lives of the Marari fisherfolk, who choose to live life on their own terms. The Marari fishermen follow a patriarchal social system, in contrast to the matriarchal system followed in Kerala.

Marari offers endless miles of superb sand beaches. The natural local charm and traditional Kerala hospitality can be observed at its best here.

There are a host of activities that the beach offers to tourists. Some of these include cruises on the backwaters, visits to traditional coir-making units, lazing in the sun, exciting water sports such as surfing, parasailing, swimming in the clear blue sea or a game of beach volleyball.
