Famous
not only for its forts, palaces, lakes, colorful festivals and the
mighty Thar Desert; but the state of Rajasthan is also well known for
its varied flora and fauna. Housing over a dozen wildlife sanctuaries,
the state has three national parks. The state houses some of the most
renowned wildlife preserves namely, the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary,
Ranthambore National Park, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and Desert National
Park. Considered to be an ideal place for photography, the Ranthambore
National Park and Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary are also famous for their
tiger population.
Some of the rare and endangered species have found shelter in the
national parks and wildlife sanctuaries of the desert state. A wide
array of wildlife including Tigers, Panthers, Sambar, Bison, Black
Bucks, Chinkara, The Rare Desert Fox, Antelopes, Deer, Wild Boars,
Monitor Lizards and the endangered Caracal can be viewed here. A number
of exotic and colorful birds including some migratory birds such as the
rare Siberian Cranes also find shelter here. The Desert National Park
near Jaisalmer is known for housing the Great Indian Bustard, an
endangered and rare bird.
The nature lovers can choose to observe this wide flora and fauna more
closely by Jeep safari and elephant safaris. These wild animals and
beautiful birds in their natural habitat may come as a real delight to
the wildlife buffs.
