Marina Beach

Much more than an acquittal from the city's scorching heat; the longest beach in Asia proudly lies in the name of Marina Beach. The beach was named by Governor Grant- Duff in 1884. The beach is known for a promenade lined by impressive statues between the road and the beach. Triumph of Labour by Debiprasad Roy Choudhry is the most impressive of them all.

Situated on the eastern side of Chennai, adjacent to the Bay of Bengal, Marina Beach offers enthralling sights of sunset and sunrise. The beach due to its yet unspoiled natural splendor is flocked by joggers and fishers at dawn and family groups and courting couples in the evening.

Offering something for everyone, the beach can be a perfect picnic spot. With the children squealing delightedly as they ride horseback, the parents can shop for trinkets and shells at the lantern-lit shops or can enjoy fast food at numerous joints.
